This burger was so delicious, and the fries were crispy and golden!
Came around 2pm on a Friday, the place was pretty quiet but the burger came out fast. Same great cheeseburger as any other Small Cheval location I’ve been to, convenient location to the loop.
Ate way too many calories in one sitting...but when people tell you this is the burger spot in Chicago, you HAVE to verify. I was NOT disappointed. Don't skimp: get the double, get bacon, get sauce for the fries, don't forget the milkshake. (You can always fast tomorrow)
I’ll admit, I was a skeptic. Usually whenever there is a local burger place, everyone hypes it due to their nostalgia and it doesn’t quite live up. Not Small Cheval though. I had a cheeseburger with bacon and some fries. Every bit of the burger was a continuation of the wonderful flavor journey. The burger was cooked to perfection with a proper layer of mayo and cheese atop it. The fries were neither too crispy nor soggy, allowing them to bathe in the side of mayo they provide. On top of that, the service was fantastic. I hope to be back again soon.
Spectacular. Our best burger in Chicago so far. We went at 8pm on a weekday and it was almost empty. We ordered the signature doble and the cheeseburger. Both were great, tasty and a good portion. The fries are also great, must try. Would go back!
Heard great things about this place and I was finally in town to check it out. Small menu where you choose between single or double cheeseburger. Lettuce and tomato is extra as well as bacon. The burger is juicy I would say as well as it doesn’t slide around if you bite at angles which is a plus for me. It’s great all around can’t wait to visit them again
The burger and fries were dope. Cool / minimal-diner design. Fast service. nice seating area outside (in good weather). The cheeseburger was great - although i missed some salad / tomatoes. Fries were on point crispy The chain is a must try when in chicago!
This place has great fries at 4.99 bc they are just crispy enough on the outside and inside it's great too bc it was hot and soft. The thickness is just right. They give you heinz ketchup plus special mayo on the side. They have hamburgers and drinks and the menu is simple. I love it bc you can just pick from a few good items and not think too deeply about what to eat. And it's a cute size and enough seats...and ppl take out a lot too. The ambience is excellent bc it's right on the river. And you can walk downstairs from the restaurant and you will pass through a beautiful lobby (see pics). This is not a big enough place to accommodate a party of 20. But for intimate gatherings of 2-6 it’s doable. And a lone hungry person will enjoy a view w good fries and a burger. Plus they give you free cold water and plastic cups. You could also bring your own bottle or cup to be kind to the earth.
